January, 2015
Our Food Bank program for 2015 got off to a good and early start. The first Friday for this January was the 2nd. We thought that the turn-out might be light, since that date was sandwiched between the New Year’s holiday and the week-end. Additionally, it was an unusually cold day for the Mendocino Coast. However, it was a dry day, and all of us agreed that cold and dry was much better than warm but raining, which is what the weather had been on the first Friday of December.
Though the morning was a little slower than usual, probably due to the cold, the crowds arrived in the afternoon, and by the end of the day we had helped 175 dogs. That’s exactly the average number for our monthly visits to the Food Bank in 2014, and 20 more dogs than came last January.
We did start off 2015 with a bang in the spay/neuter area. We had 10 dogs signed-up for spay or neuter, a new single day record. During 2014, we signed up, both at the Food Bank and over the phone, 105 dogs for spay/neuter. That was the first year that we had gone over 100.sign-ups for this very important service.
Our next visit to the Food Bank will be on Friday, February 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Thank you for helping when you can, Steve & Jeanne
